From the editor - Where's the Tardis when you need it?
Ah, that's better. When you're not well, the only place to be is at home.
While I had a terrific time in London with the BBC, I'd have enjoyed the trip much more without a cold and cataract.
You just can't appreciate a big city and the wonders of world travel when your nose is running, your ears are blocked and you're half blind.
* the West End is wonderful (when you're not wedged in the crowds)
* the Tube is terrific (when you know whether you're west or east bound)
* red double-decker buses are delightful (when you can see their numbers before they pass you)
* black cabs are beautiful (when they stop)
* jet air travel is jolly fast (but not fast enough)
We've come a long way since the days of ships and horses but travel can still be a drag, particularly when home is at the bottom of the globe.
Wouldn't it be great if you could transport yourself to anywhere just by thinking about it and clicking your fingers?
Hey, wait a sec, we can - with the Internet.
I'll just pop my passport in the drawer and grab a tissue.

Bad web design bridges generation gap
Poor design frustrates kids and seniors alike, according to recent research from usability guru Uncle Jakob (Nielsen, that is).
The study of kids found that they're as easily stumped by confusing sites as adults, tend to view ads as content, like colourful designs, and demand simple text and navigation -
Seniors need larger fonts, static navigation and clear link text to help them use the web -
Opt-in email preferred
Fifty per cent of consumers surveyed in a 2001 study by Opt-in News claimed they'd be more likely to buy online from opt-in email methods.
Thirty-seven per cent said that email newsletters would be their preferred choice, while 13 per cent preferred direct email -

The online version of the Special Broadcasting Service expands on TV and radio programming with original content including audio-on-demand in more than 50 languages. Don't miss the popular SBS soccer site (www.theworldgame.com.au), www.theworldnews.com.au and youth site "whatever" featuring artwork, animation, forums, music, short stories and poems.
