From the editor - London calling
Please excuse the plain text version again. I'm still overseas so making do with other people's computers.
Just finished the second of four one-day workshops on web writing and editing for the BBC here in London.
Must say, these BBC staffers are a delight to teach - so polite, eager to learn and passionate about their subjects, whether science or pop stars.
The BBC's New Media Editorial Conference on Monday was also great fun. Almost 200 staff turned up to learn the tips, techniques and strategies for creating content across multiple platforms.
Must be something about non-commercial sites that brings out the best in content. BBC.co.uk, Australia's own ABC.net.au and America's PBS.org are all at the vanguard of web content development.
Great content is all about compelling storytelling, whether through text or multimedia. Guess it helps when commercial constraints don't get in the way of a good story.
Gotta go. It's 6pm and sun is finally shining so don't want to miss it (have a head cold from hell and hoping some Vitamin D might help).
Thanks for hanging in.
